"At the moment, we know of seven wounded and five killed," Vitaliy Kim, governor of the Mykolaiv region, wrote on the Telegram messaging app after one of the cluster munitions exploded near a public transport stop, news agencies reported.

Russian forces also shelled civilian facilities in other Ukrainian cities, primarily near the frontline in the Russian-occupied Donbas region, according to officials.

In the eastern Donetsk region, at least nine civilians were killed as a result of artillery and air attacks on the cities of Bakhmut, Marinka, Slavyansk, Pokrovsk and Soledar, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported, citing local authorities.

Dozens of buildings were destroyed, including apartment blocks and schools.

Russian shells also fell on Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region, where two civilians were killed and five wounded near the town of Chuhuiv, according to the IAR news agency.

Friday was day 156 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
