The latest figures were unveiled by Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation on Monday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

“The fundraising platform is almost three months old," officials said. "During this time, United24 managed to raise more than USD 161 million from 110 countries."

From US to Niue

Donations are flowing in from the likes of the United States, Germany, Britain and Canada, but also Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Nicaragua, Honduras, Côte d'Ivoire and Niue, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation

The funds raised by United24 represent a “vivid example of how people in any corner of the world can contribute to defeating evil thanks to digital technologies,” officials told reporters.

Set up by the Ukrainian government in May, the United24 website collects funds for the country’s efforts to fend off the Russian invasion. Donations are channeled to Ukraine’s national bank, which allocates them among the various ministries, the PAP news agency reported.

“Our aim is to create a permanent mechanism,” Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said in May.

“Thanks to this initiative, in the future people will be able to help a country that falls victim to armed aggression or a national disaster,” he added, as cited by PAP.

Tuesday is day 160 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
