“More than 1,110 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation," the Ukrainian Prosecutor-General’s Office said in a statement, as quoted in English by the ukrinform.net website.
"As of the morning of August 27, 2022, the official number of children killed did not change over the past day – 377. The number of children injured increased – more than 733," the statement added.
Russian forces have destroyed hundreds of schools and other educational establishments in the country, according to the Ukrainian Prosecutor-General’s Office.
"A total of 2,328 educational institutions were damaged in Russian strikes; 289 of them were completely destroyed," it said.
In the early hours of Saturday, a historic building and a school in the centre of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, were damaged in Russian shelling, according to the Nexta news service.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old woman and her two children were killed in Russian shelling of a four-story building in Kamianka in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region, Nexta reported.
