Russian troop deaths in Ukraine climb to 51,900: report

The news came as Ukraine continued a successful counterattack in the northeastern Kharkiv region, among other operations, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Ukraine’s General Staff said on Friday that “Thanks to the skillful and coordinated actions of the Armed Forces with the support of the local population,” Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv region had “advanced almost 50 km in three days,“ as cited by the Ukrinform news agency.

Russia's troop deaths reach 51,900

According to Ukraine’s military command, Russia’s troop losses now total 51,900, with as many as 650 servicemen killed over the past 24 hours. 

At the same time, Russia has lost 2,122 tanks, including ten in the last 24 hours.

The Kremlin’s other equipment losses include 4,575 armoured personnel vehicles, 1,237 artillery systems and 239 aircraft, Ukraine’s General Staff announced.

Friday is day 198 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
