Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 64,300: report

Around 64,300 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in late February, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 2,521 tanks, 5,172 armored fighting vehicles and 1,566 artillery systems, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 362 multiple launch rocket systems, 186 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 268 warplanes240 helicopters, 16 warships, and 1,199 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

A top Ukrainian official was quoted as saying in late September that dozens of Russia’s newly drafted troops had already been killed on the battlefields of Ukraine.

A US Pentagon official said in August that Russia had suffered between 70,000 and 80,000 casualties, either killed or wounded, during its invasion of Ukraine.

Friday is day 233 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
