A low level of personal equipment has been observed among Russian reservists, mobilized recently as part of a divisive military draft, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Saturday.

Troops in a Russian unit that recently arrived in the city of Polohy, the Zaporizhzhia region, were so poorly equipped that they were partly dressed in civilian clothing, the General Staff said in its report.

Also, in its daily intelligence update, the British Defence Ministry said on Saturday that "many [Russian ed.] reservists are likely required to purchase their own body armour."

"Endemic corruption and poor logistics remain one of the underlying causes of Russia’s poor performance in Ukraine," the UK ministry also said in its update.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that his country should finish calling up reservists in two weeks, according to the Reuters news agency.

That would mark an end to a divisive mobilisation that has seen tens of thousands of Russian men flee the country.
