The Russians have also lost 2,879 tanks, 5,808 armoured personnel vehicles and 1,865 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces "eliminated" 350 Russian soldiers and destroyed four armoured personnel vehicles and five artillery systems, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 393 multiple launch rocket systems, 209 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 278 warplanes, 261 helicopters, 16 warships, and 1,536 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Ukrainian military officials have said that many of Russia’s newly drafted troops have already been killed on the battlefields of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said last month that Russian generals were treating newly mobilised personnel as easily replaceable "cannon fodder" for their country's aggression against Ukraine.

Friday is day 268 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
