Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said there were no casualties after the drone fell on a non-residential building of Moscow's Expo Center complex, the Reuters news agency reported.
"At about 4 a.m. Moscow time, the Kyiv regime launched another terrorist attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle on objects located in Moscow and the Moscow region," the Russian defence ministry said, as quoted by Reuters.
Following the incident, the airspace over Moscow's Vnukovo Airport was temporarily closed, authorities in the Russian capital said.
In recent months, a series of Ukrainian drone strikes have targeted Moscow and neighboring areas, the PAP news agency reported.
In early May, Ukraine dismissed Russian claims that it had attempted to assassinate Vladimir Putin by attacking the Kremlin with two drones, according to reports at the time.
Later that month, other areas of the Russian capital were hit by drones, Reuters reported.
In some of the most recent incidents, a Moscow business district was targeted twice earlier this month, according to Reuters.
On August 11, a drone attack led to an explosion in the western part of Moscow, the PAP news agency reported.
