Poland’s Bartosz Grodecki and Ukraine’s Vasyl Teteria held talks in Kyiv on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Grodecki said afterwards that the discussions had focused on further support to agencies affiliated with Ukraine’s interior ministry, border issues and help with treating those injured in the war with Russia, among other topics.
In June, Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Ihor Klymenko in the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszów, the PAP news agency reported.
Poland’s Kamiński said at the time that the Polish government had begun to transfer weapons, including thousands of machine guns and millions of bullets, for Ukraine’s National Guard, Border Guard and police officers fighting against Russia’s invasion.
Poland’s interior minister also announced that those injured on the front would be transported by a special train for treatment in Polish hospitals.
Moreover, the Polish interior ministry pledged to provide assistance to hospitals run by its Ukrainian counterpart, and to help Ukraine with setting up field hospitals, according to officials.
On Tuesday, the Polish delegation led by Grodecki also visited the war-ravaged Ukrainian towns of Bucha, Irpin and Borodyanka near Kyiv.
In the spring of last year, Ukrainian forces discovered mass graves of civilians, and many bodies scattered on the streets, bearing marks of torture, after liberating these towns from Russian occupation, the PAP news agency reported.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
Wednesday is day 546 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
