"On August 28, the Russians killed five residents of the Donetsk region: two in Dalnie, and one each in Toretsk, Lyman, and Velyka Novosilka," the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said on the Telegram messaging app.

"Another four people were injured in the region over the past day," Kyrylenko added, as cited by Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform.

One person died and three were injured when the Russians shelled Toretsk with Uragan multiple rocket launchers on Monday evening, Ukrinform reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday is day 552 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
