Could the Wagner Group change sides?

Far from representing an imminent threat to Poland, there are reports that the Wagner Group is even considering changing sides in the war in response to the assumed assassination of their leader by Putin.

Reports in the international press suggest that the conflict between Putin and the Wagner Group is far from over. SKY News, among others, has reported the statement of a Wagner supporter that Putin is orchestrating the destruction of Wagner graves to remove reference to what Putin perceives as traitors.

The Times has even suggested that the Group may be considering changing sides to avenge the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin - they are, after all, mercenaries fighting for salaries rather than (just) for country.

These reports run somewhat counter to recent demands from Poland and other Ukrainian allies that Belarus expel remaining Wagner Group soldiers stationed in Belarus. Fears of the presence of Wagner Group soldiers in Belarus may be based on underestimating the internal conflicts on the Russian side.
