Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 263,490: report

Around 263,490 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 4,459 tanks, 8,613 armored combat vehicles and 5,530 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 470 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 735 multiple launch rocket systems, 500 air defense systems, 315 warplanes, 316 helicopters, 18 warships, and 4,421 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

A top British military official said this summer that "Russia has lost nearly half the combat effectiveness of its army" since invading Ukraine in February last year.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 555 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
