The shelling took place in the morning, with one of the 152mm shells striking a private house, killing two inhabitants, a woman and a man, the RBC-Ukraine news agency reported.

Another woman was hospitalised with injuries, according to officials.

Meanwhile, two civilians suffered shrapnel wounds and fractures after a Russian artillery attack on the city of Avdiivka, also in the eastern Donetsk province, RBC-Ukraine reported.

Both the injured persons were hospitalised, according to officials.

Tuesday’s attacks also damaged residential buildings and outbuildings, reporters were told.

Pre-trial investigations have been initiated into criminal proceedings on violations of laws and customs of war, the Office of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General said.

Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk province is the target of daily shelling by the Russian occupiers, with both frontline and rear settlements suffering damage, RBC-Ukraine reported.

Tuesday is day 566 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
