Ukraine's Finance Ministry announced the funding on Wednesday, The Kyiv Independent website reported.

EU will provide the EUR 150 million under the Support to Ukraine's Fast Recovery agreement, according to officials.

Ukraine will spend the grants on "restoring critical infrastructure damaged by Russian aggression," including transport facilities, social infrastructure and residential areas, Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko said.

Brussels is expected to provide a further EUR 100 million in the first quarter of 2024 for Ukraine's "recovery efforts and the agriculture sector," The Kyiv Independent reported.

According to the International Monetary Fund, Ukraine's recovery is "stronger than expected" but requires continued financial support from the West, the website added.

Last week, Hungary vetoed EUR 50 billion in fresh European Union funding for Ukraine.

The bloc's leaders are due to address the matter again at an extraordinary summit in January, according to officials.

Marchenko said on Tuesday that Ukraine's external financing would total USD 42.3 billion (EUR 38.6 billion) in 2023, up from USD 32.1 billion (29.3 billion) in 2022, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported.

Wednesday is day 665 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
