Ukraine's Armed Forces announced the figures via social media on Thursday.

A third of the total were S-300 anti-aircraft missiles and S-400 missiles, according to officials.

Russia also attacked Ukraine with around 900 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 48 Kinzhal ballistic missiles, the Ukrainian News Agency reported.

Ukraine was also the target of some 3,700 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russia, with Kyiv's air defences taking down about 2,900 of them, the Ukrainian army said.

Overnight into Friday, Russia fired the Shahed assault drones against Ukraine's Chernihiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, the Ukrainska Pravda website reported.

Debris from a downed UAV hit a high-rise building in the port of Odesa, sparking a fire, and as of 0:30 local time information about casualties was being clarified, according to regional officials.

On the night of December 27-28, Ukraine repelled a Russian drone attack, destroying seven Shahed UAVs, the Ukrainian News Agency reported.

In the course of Thursday, Ukrainian troops eliminated 920 soldiers of Russia's invading army, bringing the Kremlin's combat losses in Ukraine to 356,670, according to military authorities in Kyiv.

Ukraine on Thursday also destroyed 27 Russian tanks and 15 Russian artillery systems, according to news outlets.

Friday is day 674 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
