"On the night of June 19, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with 21 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from the directions of Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia) and Cape Chauda (Crimea)," the Ukrainian air force said on Wednesday morning.

It added that the attack was repelled by Ukrainian fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups, state news agency Ukrinform reported.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said the country's air defence units "shot down 19 enemy attack UAVs of the Shahed type" over the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi and Lviv regions.

In the western Lviv region, near the Polish border, debris from a Russian drone hit civilian infrastructure in the village of Malekhiv, injuring a 70-year-old man, regional governor Maksym Kozytskyi said, as cited by the euromaidanpress.com website.

The attack damaged a residential building, hit an office building, and shattered windows in five other buildings, euromaidanpress.com reported.

Kozytskyi also said that another man, aged 47, was injured and received medical assistance on the site without needing hospitalization, according to euromaidanpress.com.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 847 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
