Russian casualty toll in Ukraine rises to 531,980: report

Around 531,980 Russian troops have been either killed or wounded in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February 2022, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 8,001 tanks, 15,372 armored fighting vehicles and 14,106 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday, Ukrainian forces killed or wounded 1,060 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 1,106 multiple launch rocket systems, 861 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 359 warplanes, 326 helicopters, 28 warships, and 11,260 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 849 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
