Russian casualty toll in Ukraine rises to 540,490: report

Around 540,490 Russian troops have been either killed or wounded in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February 2022, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 8,066 tanks, 15,480 armored fighting vehicles and 14,423 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday, Ukrainian forces killed or wounded 1,170 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 1,109 multiple rocket launchers, 871 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 360 warplanes, 326 helicopters, 28 warships, and 11,509 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 856 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
