The most intense fighting is in the Pokrovsk and Toretsk areas of the Donbas region, where Russian forces are engaging in intense battles. Fierce fighting is also taking place in several other parts of the front.
In some sectors, Ukrainian forces are launching offensive operations. The Ukrainian General Staff on Monday reported over 100 daily combat clashes with the enemy across the entire front line.
Ukrainian military expert Yevhen Dykyi said in a media interview that the Russian offensive north of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, was faltering.
He added that Ukrainian forces were successfully driving the enemy out of the Kharkiv region, where he said Russian troops were struggling to retain a small area they seized in May.
Dykyi credited the halt of the Russian advance to the supply of Western arms.
At last week's NATO summit in Washington, Western allies pledged further arms deliveries to Ukraine.
