The facility, now fully developed, will be capable of accommodating over 1,000 American troops, Polish state news agency has reported.
According to a statement from the Polish Ministry of Defense, the base is intended for temporary housing of allied troops for training and to support rotational military personnel.
Additionally, it will serve as a hub for swift gathering and receipt of supplies, as well as the deployment of military equipment before moving to tactical assembly areas.
Brig. Gen. Dariusz Mendrala, a Polish one-star general, said that the camp will also serve as a rapid assembly point for supplies and combat equipment.
Established under a Polish-US agreement on enhanced defense cooperation, signed on August 15, 2020, the camp's primary goal is to swiftly receive allied reinforcements, not only from the United States but also potentially from other NATO member states.
