"On the night of August 5, 2024, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from areas of Russia’s Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk," the Ukrainian air force said on Monday morning.

It added that Ukrainian "radio engineering troops detected and tracked 24 combat drones."

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said that "all enemy UAVs were shot down," state news agency Ukrinform reported.

Oleshchuk added that the attack was repelled by the country's "mobile firing groups, anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare units" in the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from drone debris.

However, regional authorities said that Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least one civilian and injured seven others over the past day, the Kyiv Independent newspaper reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Monday is day 894 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
