Russian casualty toll in Ukraine rises to 596,950: report

Around 596,950 Russian troops have been either killed or wounded in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February 2022, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 8,496 tanks, 16,461 armored fighting vehicles and 16,927 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday, Ukrainian forces killed or wounded 1,330 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 1,159 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 922 air defence systems, 367 warplanes, 328 helicopters, 28 warships, and 13,659 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 905 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
