The two leaders talked about key aspects of Polish-American relations, including security and defence strategies, and energy cooperation, according to the US embassy in Warsaw.

They also addressed "joint efforts to ensure that Russia’s aggression in Ukraine results in a strategic defeat," the embassy said on the X social media platform in Polish.

The US embassy affirmed Washington's commitment to deepening cooperation with Warsaw in defence and its readiness to collaborate on projects that enhance energy security, drive economic growth and "strengthen the enduring bond between our nations."

Earlier in the day, Blinken met with Poland's Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and President Andrzej Duda to discuss bilateral defence, security and energy ties as well as joint support for Ukraine against Russia's invasionpublic broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Poland's Sikorski told reporters after his meeting with Blinken that Warsaw "remains a proponent of increasing pressure on the Russian regime to compel it to end the war against Ukraine."

"From the start, we have been at the forefront of efforts to provide military assistance and more," Sikorski said at a joint news conference with Blinken.

While in Warsaw on Thursday, Blinken expressed his appreciation for Poland's leadership within NATO, praising the country's commitment to spending over 4 percent of its GDP on defence and its continued efforts to modernise its armed forces, according to the US embassy in Warsaw.

Russia invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on February 24, 2022, starting the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II.

Thursday is day 932 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
