According to a statement by the US Department of Defense, the new package will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to meet its most urgent needs, including missiles for air defence, air-to-ground munitions, and equipment to support Kyiv's use of F-16 fighter jets.
The package contains AIM-7, RIM-7 and AIM-9M missiles for air defence; air-to-ground munitions; and support equipment for F-16s, according to the Pentagon.
Washington will also provide Kyiv with armoured bridging systems and secure communications equipment.
Other capabilities include small arms and ammunition; and spare parts and ancillary equipment, in addition to services, training and transportation, the statement said on Thursday.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has committed USD 65.9 billion in security assistance to help the country defend itself, the US Department of Defense said.
Russia invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on February 24, 2022, starting the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II.
Thursday is day 1,050 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
