At least five people have been killed and more than 30 injured in a rocket attack on the city of Izium in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, local authorities said, accusing Russian forces of deliberately targeting a civilian facility where people had gathered.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the military administration in Kharkiv region, said several of the wounded – including children – have been hospitalized, and three individuals, including a 15‑year‑old, remain in critical condition.

Ukrainian officials reported that a ballistic missile struck a building housing civilian offices during business hours, leaving residents with little time to seek shelter.

Izium, liberated from Russian occupation over two years ago, is now located about 40 kilometers from the frontline.
