Authorities have charged seven people in connection with an alleged USD 100 million bribery scheme involving senior energy officials, according to reports.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said he supported "every investigation carried out by law enforcement and anti-corruption officials."
"There must be maximum integrity in the energy sector, in absolutely all processes," Zelensky said in a video message.
"Right now it is extremely difficult for everyone in Ukraine—enduring power outages, Russian strikes, and losses. It is absolutely unacceptable that, amid all this, there are also some schemes in the energy sector," he added.
Hrynchuk, who announced her resignation in a social media post, denied any wrongdoing.
The corruption scandal comes as Ukraine struggles with repeated Russian strikes on its energy infrastructure, leading to widespread blackouts.
