The Lithuanian parliament, the Seimas, said in a resolution that Russia's "armed forces and mercenaries have committed mass war crimes" in Ukraine, "in particular in Bucha, Irpin, Mariupol, Borodyanka and Hostomel," Lithuania's public broadcaster LRT reported.
"The Seimas recognises the full-scale armed aggression – war – against Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation and its political and military leadership ... as genocide against the Ukrainian people," the resolution said, as quoted by the Lithuanian public broadcaster on its website.
"The Russian Federation, whose military forces deliberately and systematically target civilian targets, is a state that supports and perpetrates terrorism," the resolution added.
Lithuanian lawmakers also called for the establishment of an international tribunal to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
A Polish deputy justice minister told an international conference in Lithuania last week that Poland had collected more than 1,000 witness statements on Russian atrocities in Ukraine.
