The US House of Representatives voted 368-57 on Tuesday evening to approve the measure, which will next need to be passed by the Senate before it can go to President Joe Biden to be signed into law, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Biden initially proposed USD 33 billion in military, economic and humanitarian assistance to help Ukraine fend off Vladimir Putin’s invasion, but Congress has proposed billions more for food aid and military equipment, broadcaster CNN reported.
In another move to help Ukraine fight Russia, Biden on Monday signed the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022, a law that aims to streamline the process of supplying the country with military equipment.
The Lend-Lease Act of 2022 is intended to enable the United States to more efficiently send weapons and other supplies to war-torn Ukraine as well as NATO allies affected by Putin's invasion of Ukraine, according to officials.
