Andrzej Duda is set to meet with his Estonian counterpart Alar Karis and Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on Friday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The Polish president will also take part in a security conference, officials said.

It is the latest in a series of trips by Duda, who recently also visited the Czech RepublicLithuania and Slovakia, officials told reporters.

Coordination of support for Ukraine

Jakub Kumoch, the Polish president’s foreign policy advisor, said that the talks in Estonia would focus on “the coordination of support for Ukraine.”

He added that Poland and Estonia “are the main driving forces behind Europe’s humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine” amid Russia's invasion of Poland’s eastern neighbour.

EU candidate status for Ukraine

Another key topic in Tallinn will be European Union candidate status for Ukraine, Kumoch told a news conference.

The Polish president earlier this week announced he was teaming up with his Slovak counterpart Zuzana Čaputová to lobby EU partners to offer Ukraine a perspective of joining the bloc.

The Baltic states are now poised to join Duda’s and Čaputová’s initiative, officials told reporters.

Friday is day 79 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
