Jacek Sasin made the declaration in a media interview on Sunday.
He told public broadcaster Polish Radio that Ukraine’s postwar redevelopment was discussed at last week’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
UN office for Ukraine to be based in Poland?
“There were talks with officials from the UN, which is setting up an international fund to support the reconstruction of Ukraine,” Sasin said.
He added: “We’ll advocate for the office of this fund to be based in Poland, in Warsaw.”
According to Sasin, the aim is for Poland to be “not only a logistics hub for the big reconstruction effort,” but also “its financial centre.”
Poland offers to help rebuild Ukraine
Meanwhile, Poland is drawing up its own package of redevelopment proposals for Ukraine, Sasin said.
“We are preparing an offer that outlines the potential and know-how of Poland’s state-run companies,” he added.
Sasin also told Polish Radio that the government was setting up "a digital platform for private firms that want to take part in the reconstruction of Ukraine."
Monday is day 96 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
