The US leader revealed the move in a guest essay published in The New York Times newspaper on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Biden wrote he had decided “to provide the Ukrainians with more advanced rocket systems and munitions that will enable them to more precisely strike key targets on the battlefield in Ukraine.”
The delivery will mark the 11th package of US security assistance to Ukraine since the country was invaded by Russia in late February, White House officials said.
HIMARS, helicopters, Javelins
Under this package, Ukraine is set to receive HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, as well as helicopters, tactical vehicles and Javelin anti-tank weapon systems, among other equipment.
More details were expected to be unveiled on Wednesday, according to officials.
'We do not want to prolong the war'
Biden said: “We are not encouraging or enabling Ukraine to strike beyond its borders. We do not want to prolong the war just to inflict pain on Russia.”
In his essay, the US president also stated he would not persuade Ukraine to make any territorial concessions to Russia.
He added he would continue making efforts to strengthen the eastern flank of the NATO alliance, the PAP news agency reported.
Wednesday is day 98 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
