Marcin Przydacz made the remark in an interview with public broadcaster Polish Radio.
He was speaking after reports that the German chancellor and the French president were set to visit the Ukrainian capital Kyiv later this week, accompanied by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Przydacz commented: “President Duda had repeatedly urged Chancellor Scholz and President Macron to travel to Kyiv and see Bucha and Irpin with their own eyes.”
“Maybe this will change their approach,” he said.
“We’ll see what impact this visit is going to have," he added.
Przydacz noted that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the European Union’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell recently visited Ukraine.
Przydacz told Polish Radio: “We need to work so that they [Scholz, Macron and Draghi] don’t put pressure on [Ukraine’s President] Volodymyr Zelensky to make concessions.”
“I don’t see why Ukraine should appease Russia,” he added.
Talks to focus on Ukraine’s EU aspirations
Italy’s La Stampa newspaper reported on Monday that Scholz, Macron and Draghi would visit Kyiv for talks with Zelensky on Thursday.
Discussions are expected to focus on Ukraine’s bid to be granted EU candidate status, La Stampa said, as cited by the PAP news agency.
The visit will take place ahead of this month’s summits of the EU, NATO and the Group of Seven (G7) most advanced economies.
It also comes as the Russian invasion of Ukraine nears its 16th week.
