Vasyl Zvarych is a 45-year-old career diplomat who has vowed to "work 24/7 to strengthen Ukrainian-Polish friendship," public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
He replaces Andrii Deshchytsia, who was last month honoured by Duda with a high Polish state decoration for helping develop bilateral ties.
Deshchytsia was originally due to end his tour of duty in Warsaw in February, but his term as ambassador was extended after Russia invaded his country, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Zvarych is a graduate of the National University in Lviv, western Ukraine. He previously worked as a deputy department director at the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was also a member of the diplomatic staff at the Ukrainian embassies in Turkey and the United States.
Wednesday is day 140 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
