Ukraine says Russian military death toll climbs to 55,110

Around 55,110 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in late February, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 2,227 tanks, 4,748 armored fighting vehicles, and 1,050 artillery systems, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Wednesday, as cited by the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 318 multiple launch rocket systems, 168 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 253 warplanes217 helicopters, 15 warships, and 932 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

A US Pentagon official said last month that Russia had suffered between 70,000 and 80,000 casualties, either killed or wounded, during its invasion of Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday ordered a partial mobilization of 300,000 reservists for his country's military campaign in Ukraine, news agencies reported.

Wednesday is day 210 of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
