Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, Poland's minister for European affairs, has said that the Wednesday announcement of Ursula von der Leyen that frozen Russian assets will be confiscated, "is a move in the right direction."
Szynkowski vel Sęk said that Poland had argued for confiscation "from the beginning".
Von der Leyen said in her statement that, "The damage suffered by Ukraine is estimated at 600 billion euros. Russia and its oligarchs have to compensate Ukraine for the damage and cover the costs for rebuilding the country."
