Mateusz Morawiecki made the statement at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Speaking at the Polish House pavilion in Davos, Morawiecki said: “By working towards peace, we are not only seeking to protect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We are also seeking to save all of Europe so that it doesn’t have to feel ‘under siege’ and wonder who might be the next victim of Russia’s colonialism, imperialism and domination.”

Morawiecki described these efforts as “a huge challenge for the whole world,” adding that Poland was "playing a fundamental role in meeting this challenge.”

He stated: “We remain in constant contact with our Ukrainian friends and we know well what they need.”

He added: “We know well enough that their barricades, their struggle, is also our struggle, for the security of Poland, for the security of Europe, and, I believe we can safely say, also for the security of the whole world.”

‘Three challenges’

Morawiecki told his audience at the Polish House that the annual get-together of world leaders, business executives and policy experts at Davos could help find ways to tackle "the main global challenges of today."

He said: “The World Economic Forum in Davos is a place for discussions that will spark the policy ideas to help address the three challenges of today: the war in Ukraine, the food crisis and the security crisis.”

The 2023 World Economic Forum, attended by decision makers including Poland's President Andrzej Duda and Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin, runs until Friday.

Tuesday was day 328 of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
