The United States said on Wednesday it would supply Ukraine with 31 advanced Abrams tanks to help the country defend itself against Russia's invasion.

Earlier in the day, Germany announced it would deliver a company of 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks “as a first step" in allied efforts to quickly provide Ukraine with two tank battalions.

Kuleba said in a tweet on Wednesday that he had a call with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau during which he "thanked Poland, which was the first country to publicly announce Leopard 2 delivery, thus contributing crucially to the forming of the tank coalition."

Polish President Andrzej Duda pledged earlier this month that Poland would send a company of German-made Leopard tanks to help Ukraine fight Russia.

'New tasks ahead: Western-type fighter jets, sanctions'

Kuleba tweeted after his call with Poland's Rau on Wednesday: "We have new tasks ahead: Western-type fighter jets, sanctions, Peace Formula implementation."

He said Ukraine and Poland were working on developing connectivity between the two countries.

"Today, we discussed in detail ways to expand and facilitate passenger and cargo railway connection between our countries," Kuleba added.

The Polish foreign ministry said that Rau and Kuleba on Wednesday discussed topics including Polish-Ukrainian relations, military support for Ukraine and further sanctions on Russia.

Wednesday was day 336 of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
