According to a statement by the US Department of Defense, the new security assistance package includes ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS); 155 mm howitzers; Tube-Launched, Optically-Tracked, Wire-Guided (TOW) missiles; AT-4 and Carl Gustaf anti-armor weapon systems; Hydra-70 aircraft rockets; and artillery rounds to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia's invasion.
Washington will also provide Kyiv with demolition munitions for obstacle clearing; trucks and trailers to transport heavy equipment; and testing and diagnostic equipment to support vehicle maintenance and repair, the statement said on Wednesday.
The United States has committed USD 36.4 billion in security aid to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February last year, according to officials.
"The United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements," the Pentagon said in its statement.
Thursday is day 435 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
