Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 197,670: report

Around 197,670 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 3,745 tanks, 7,295 armored fighting vehicles and 3,068 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 750 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 559 multiple launch rocket systems, 312 anti-aircraft warfare systems, 308 warplanes, 294 helicopters, 18 warships, and 2,636 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

The White House has estimated that Russia has lost around 100,000 soldiers to death or injury during the last five months in fighting in the Bakhmut region and other areas of Ukraine.

Friday is day 443 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
