The war machines have undergone a comprehensive refurbishment process to ensure optimal battlefield performance.
At a press briefing on Monday, United States' Assistant Secretary of Land Forces for Armaments, Doug Bush, said: "They [tanks] are done. Now they have to get to Europe, and then to Ukraine, along with all of the things that go with them. Ammunition, spare parts, fuel equipment, repair facilities." He indicated that the delivery is set to take place during "early fall."
The timeline of the delivery, which was originally slated to take more than a year, was expedited at the request of Kyiv. The Ukrainian authorities opted to receive refurbished M1A1 versions, a decision that facilitated quicker delivery.
Beyond the tank overhaul, the United States is also intensifying its efforts in artillery munitions production. Assistant Secretary Bush revealed that monthly production rates have surged from 14,000 to 24,000 units. This trend is set to continue, with projected production reaching 28,000 soon, and a trajectory toward surpassing 80,000 in the coming year.
