The Polish Prime Minister's Office said the talks focused on security issues as well as bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Morawiecki said in a Facebook post that he and Rebelo de Sousa also discussed EU migration and asylum policies and the planned enlargement of the 27-nation bloc, of which both Poland and Portugal are part.

He noted that the two countries last year celebrated the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Portuguese leader met with Polish President Andrzej Duda to discuss international support for Ukraine’s fight against Russia's invasion and Polish-Portuguese business ties, according to reports.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday was day 545 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
