Zelensky said in his nightly video address on Sunday that "there will be decisions that will allow us to further strengthen our warriors."
He added that steps would be taken to "allow military commanders to prepare the infrastructure for new Ukrainian aircraft more actively."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian diplomats are expected to step up efforts "to promote everything that our warriors need more actively in communication with partners," according to Zelensky.
He said in his message on Sunday night: "The requests from each of the units are very clear. This is exactly what the results of Ukrainian diplomacy should be."
Zelensky last week spoke on the phone with US President Joe Biden to discuss "the commencement of training of Ukrainian fighter pilots and assurance of expedited approval for other nations to transfer their F-16s to Ukraine upon completion of training to increase Ukraine’s defensive capabilities," according to a statement by the White House.
Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder said last week that the United States would begin training Ukrainians to fly and maintain F-16 fighter jets in the coming months.
The US administration earlier this month greenlighted sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands to help Kyiv fight Russia's invasion, according to reports at the time.
Norway last week joined the Netherlands and Denmark in announcing it would donate surplus F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
In May, Biden told his Group of Seven (G7) counterparts at the bloc’s summit in Hiroshima, Japan, that the United States would allow allies to provide American-made F-16 and other advanced fighter jets to help Ukraine fight the Russian invasion, and would also train Ukrainian pilots to use the aircraft.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
Monday is day 551 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
