Russia strikes Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih, Odradokamianka, killing four: officials

Russia has attacked Ukraine’s central city of Kryvyi Rih with missiles, killing one person and injuring 44 others, and bombed the southern settlement of Odradokamianka, killing three people, authorities in Kyiv have said.

The attack on Kryvyi Rih was carried out early on Friday morning, the Ukrainska Pravda website reported. 

Russian missiles struck the police administrative building and offices, killing one policeman, according to officials. 

The building was destroyed in the process, and as of 10:19 CET, there were 44 injured people, of whom 19 were taken to hospital, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of Kryvyi Rih’s defence council.

In all, three administrative buildings and seven residential ones, including a multi-storey building, were damaged, and a fire broke out at some garages but was contained, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

On the night of September 7-8, Ukraine’s air defences shot down 16 out of 20 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 drones used by Russian troops to attack Ukraine’s southern regions of Odesa and Mykolaiv, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia bombs Ukraine’s Odradokamianka, killing three 

Later on Friday morning, Russia dropped an aerial bomb on the settlement of Odradokamianka in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region, killing three people and injuring four, according to Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.  

Russia also launched missiles on Ukraine’s southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia and the northeastern city of Sumy, injuring at least four people, Ukrainska Pravda reported

Friday is day 562 of Russia’s war on Ukraine. 

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
