The US think tank made the assessment in its latest report on the war in Ukraine, published on Tuesday night.

The ISW wrote that Ukrainian forces on Tuesday continued offensive operations in the Donetsk and Zaporizhia provinces, and have reportedly advanced south of the eastern city of Bakhmut and the southeastern village of Robotyne.

Ukrainian forces are conducting active offensive operations near Klishchiivka (6km southwest of Bakhmut), the US think tank added, citing Ukrainian military sources.

Moreover, Ukrainian forces were additionally successful south and southeast of Robotyne (about 13km south of Orikhiv) in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine’s General Staff said on Tuesday.

Ukrainian Tavriisk Group of Forces Spokesperson Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun clarified that Ukrainian forces have advanced between 300-500 metres south and southeast of Robotyne, a recently liberated strategic village in Zaporizhzhia, according to the ISW.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Military Media Center noted that Russian forces are increasingly pulling reserves from deep within Russian territory to the frontline in Ukraine out of fear of a Ukrainian breakthrough, the ISW also reported.

Ukraine is seeking to encircle and retake Bakhmut in the east, while its push through Zaporizhzhia in the southeast is intended to reach the Sea of Azov, splitting Russian forces, according to news outlets.

Wednesday is day 567 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
