The Ukrainian military command provided the latest frontline update on Tuesday morning, the RBC-Ukraine news agency reported.

Ukrainian troops were pushing on with their counteroffensive towards Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia and carrying out counteroffensive actions on the Bakhmut front, “inflicting losses on the occupying forces in personnel and equipment, consolidating their positions on captured frontlines, and wearing down the enemy,” according to officials in Kyiv.

In the southern Kherson region, Ukrainian forces engaged in counter-battery warfare, destroying supply depots and successfully striking at the enemy’s rear areas, Ukraine’s General Staff said.

In all, there were 35 combat engagements between Ukrainian and Russian forces over the past 24 hours, RBC-Ukraine reported.

Russian attacks

Russia launched a total of eight missile strikes and 47 airstrikes, as well as 27 attacks using rocket artillery systems, targeting Ukrainian military positions and civilian facilities, the military command in Kyiv reported.

Russia also fired seven Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine, four of which were neutralised by Ukraine’s air defences, according to officials.

The attacks resulted in casualties and injuries among Ukraine’s civilian population, RBC-Ukraine reported.

Some private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.

Ukrainian strikes

Over the past day, Ukraine’s air force has conducted 11 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weaponry and military equipment, as well as one strike on a Russian anti-aircraft missile complex, RBC-Ukraine reported.

Ukraine’s missile troops hit two concentrations of Russian personnel, weaponry and military equipment, a Russian command post, two Russian electronic warfare stations and four pieces of Russian artillery, Ukraine’s General Staff said.

As of Monday morning, Russia’s military death toll in Ukraine had totalled 279,080, RBC-Ukraine reported.

In its latest counteroffensive against Russia, Ukraine is seeking to encircle and recapture Bakhmut in the east, while also pushing through Zaporizhzhia in the southeast, in a bid to reach the port of Melitopol on the Sea of Azov, splitting Russian forces, according to news outlets.

Germany sends ammunition, military equipment to Ukraine

The German government has supplied Ukraine with over 32,000 rounds of 40mm ammunition, dozens of all-terrain and border protection vehicles, and other military equipment, as part of its latest aid package, The Kyiv Independent website reported on Tuesday morning.

The tranche also includes radio equipment for Leopard battle tanks, almost 100 Satcom terminals, over 1,000 infusion kits, a bridge-laying Beaver tank, and two mine-clearing Wisent 1 tanks, according to the government in Berlin.

Tuesday is day 587 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
