During their conversation on Thursday, "the leaders discussed Ukraine’s ongoing fight to defend its freedom and independence from Russian aggression," the White House said.
It added that Biden "underscored the continued strong bipartisan support in the United States for Ukraine’s defense of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic future."
Zelensky in a tweet thanked Biden "for the effective implementation of our latest defense agreements" and for supplying long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), saying that Ukrainian soldiers were "putting them to good use on the battlefield."
In his nightly video address, Zelensky said that Biden "sent a strong message of US support for Ukraine—for as long as it takes to prevail."
He added that he was grateful to Biden, "both parties of the US Congress, and the entire American people for their powerful assistance and leadership."
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
