In a video address, Zelensky acknowledged the complexity of the military situation on the ground but remained resolute about Ukraine's progress.
"The situation is not simple, but we are moving forward," he said. "And as difficult as it may be there - we will get there. To our borders, to our people. To our just peace. Against all odds. Together with you and thanks to our people and our Armed Forces."
The address was delivered live as Zelensky walked along Hrushevsky Street in Kiev's government district, interacting with passersby. His route culminated at Mikhailovsky Square, where he laid a wreath at a memorial wall dedicated to Ukraine's fallen defenders.
Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's military intelligence service (HUR), emphasized the readiness of the Ukrainian army to counter any strategies by "the Kremlin occupiers."
Budanov said, as quoted on the HUR website: "In all periods of history - from the Middle Ages to the present - Muscovites have suffered many defeats by various states, but with this war Putin's Russia has signed a death sentence on itself."
Wednesday is the 651st day of Russia's war in Ukraine.
