The Russians have also lost 6,465 tanks, 12,129 armored combat vehicles and 9,641 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 1,210 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 984 multiple launch rocket systems, 671 air defense systems, 332 warplanes, 325 helicopters, 25 warships, and 7,408 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

According to a declassified US intelligence report cited by the Reuters news agency in December, the war in Ukraine had resulted in 315,000 dead and injured Russian troops.

The casualty toll accounts for nearly 90 percent of the personnel Russia had when the conflict began, Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the intelligence.

The report also assessed that Moscow's losses in personnel and armored vehicles to Ukraine's military have set back Russia’s military modernization by 18 years, according to Reuters.

A top British military official said last summer that "Russia has lost nearly half the combat effectiveness of its army" since invading Ukraine in February 2022.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 723 of Russias war on Ukraine.
