The Iranian-made drones were shot down over the southern Mykolaiv region and near the northeastern city of Kharkiv, according to the Ukrainian military.
"At night, Russian invaders once again attacked Ukraine, using 12 Shahed UAVs," the Ukrainian air force said on Tuesday morning, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.
"All of the attack UAVs were destroyed by Ukraine's air defense forces and assets," the statement added.
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said that Russia attacked Ukraine with drones "launched from Cape Chauda" in the occupied Crimea peninsula and Russia's Kursk region, Ukrinform reported.
The Ukrainian military said on the Telegram messaging app that, in addition to the attack drones, Russia also launched two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, according to Ukrinform.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Tuesday that a total of 57 combat clashes took place on the front lines between Ukrainian and Russian troops over the past 24 hours.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Tuesday is day 762 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
