Despite being accosted by a Polish national who had fled to Belarus alleging persecution, Krajewski remained resolute, asserting he would not be intimidated, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, saw the ambassador confronted with provocative questions about "Poles returning from Ukraine in coffins" and historical grievances, while being recorded on cameras by the agitators.
The situation escalated until the ambassador was safely escorted out by members of Poland's State Protection Service (SOP), which he praised for their professionalism.
This incident reflects on the trajectory of Russia's interactions with the international diplomatic community, according to analysts.
Krajewski criticized the recurring pattern of harassment, suggesting that such acts were organized to intimidate and discourage him.
He said: "The Russian side does not tolerate any narrative other than their aggressive and primitive propaganda."
Krajewski expressed surprise at how individuals under prosecutorial scrutiny in Poland could have freely left the country and become tools of Russian manipulation.
According to media reports, the man who harassed the diplomat was one of the Polish citizens who fled to Belarus. Previously in Poland, he had attracted the attention of authorities for spreading Kremlin propaganda.
In the summer of 2022, Stanisław Żaryn, a senior security official in Poland's previous government, announced that the man was charged with endorsing an aggressive war and crimes against the Ukrainian population.
Krajewski visit to Yekaterinburg had as its aims engagement with the local Polish diaspora and paying respects at sites commemorating victims of Soviet-era political repression.
"This type of activity here in Russia, despite the official Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression observed on October 30, is 'unpopular,' to put it mildly,"Krajewski said. "It provokes hostility from overly zealous activists and services."
He added: "As a result, there were attempts to find an opportunity to disrupt my visit."
